Edwinstowe and the Dukeries Lions rely on the goodwill of the public and local businesses to carry out their fundraising.
This month, they were grateful to the generosity of Dan from Edwinstowe, and the landlord of the Royal Oak in the village. At the pub’s Sunday quiz night, the Lions drew him as the winner of one of their raffles. He declined the prize and allowed them to auction it, before outbidding everyone else to secure the prize for himself, adding an extra amount to the Lions’ collection.
Thank you to The Olde Red Lion at Wellow and The South Forest Complex in Edwinstowe for their support with the Club’s Easter hampers too. This money helps the Lions to support so many people and they spend it wisely.
See the Lions at upcoming community events. They will be at the St George’s Day event in Old Ollerton and are hoping to attend Wellow Maypole Day with their brand new Lions Gazebo. Please say hello – as well as collecting donations, they’ll be spreading the word about what they do and how you can help them.
Local businesses who want to support the club and new members are always warmly welcomed. Call Jon on 07581 265531 or email jon.c.yarwood@gmail.com to find out more or even be a guest at a meeting. They usually have one meeting on the second Thursday of each month and a social on the fourth Thursday.
