Local RSPCA branch celebrates rescue animals with 2022 calendar

Having rehomed over 1,200 animals since the start of the pandemic, RSPCA Doncaster, Rotherham and District Branch has been fortunate to see so many ‘happily ever afters’ – with everything from dogs to degus and cats to canaries finding their forever homes.
The charity’s Animal Centre works to rehabilitate and rehome animals, which often come into their care needing additional support. To celebrate, the local charity held their second annual Rescue Pet Photo Competition in August. They were overwhelmed by the quantity and quality of the photos received and were delighted to see so many familiar faces. The 12 winning pictures appear in the RSPCA Doncaster, Rotherham and District Branch Rescue Animal 2022 Calendar, which is now available for sale via the charity’s four shops, its Animal Centre and website. The calendar helps the charity to raise much needed funds for the animals in its care and other animal welfare work that it undertakes in the local area.
Kate Brown, the charity’s Marketing Manager, said: “We are always delighted to hear how animals that have been adopted from us are getting on and we love to receive photographs – the calendar is a great way to celebrate this and raise awareness of adopting.”
The charity is hopeful that some of its current longer-term residents will appear in next year’s calendar. Whilst younger animals are quick to find their forever homes, some of the older animals in the charity’s care have to wait a little longer. Just a couple of examples the animal Centre has at the moment are Kai, a dog who is eight years old, and Karen, a cat who is three years old, have both been at the Animal Centre for over 20 weeks. The charity is looking for people who can give older animals a place in their hearts and homes as the animals still have so much to offer their owners.
If you are interested in adopting from the branch the advice is to visit their website www.rspcadoncasterrotherham.org.uk where you can view the animals that are currently available and register your interest by completing a ‘Perfect Match’ form. If you do not have access to the internet, please call the Centre on 01302 719710 during opening hours.
There are many ways to help RSPCA Doncaster, Rotherham and District Branch with their mission to rehome and rehabilitate animals, including volunteering, donating cash or goods, leaving a legacy sponsoring them through their ‘Safe Haven’ programme and attending events. They have charity shops at Bawtry, Maltby, Rossington and Thorne as well as an eBay page and online shops. At the Animal Centre, they rehome the animals in their care and have a pet supplies store on site and online for all your requirements. They also provide a pet cremation service and a memorial garden for your beloved pets. To donate £5.00, text ‘RSPCADRB’ to 70085.
