The Rising Stars of Scunthorpe Little Theatre Club

Rising Stars has been the youth wing of the Scunthorpe Little Theatre Club (SLTC) for many years now.

Every Sunday from 10.00am to 12.00pm, budding performers gather and explore different aspects of performance and teambuilding – and have a lot of fun in the process! They have a great group at the moment who very clearly care for each other and want to see each other shine brightly.

One of the highlights of the year for the group is towards the end of each year, when from September(ish) to January, the group gets to join forces with the adult group and take part in SLTC’s annual pantomime.

To begin with, years ago, this mostly involved the group being chorus members, villagers and getting to take part in some of the singing. As they have grown, learned more about each other, and realised just how talented this group is, they have also taken part in the dancing, which used to be done by outside dance schools.

It’s wonderful to see the Rising Stars able to take on these extra roles, including doing their own choreography these days! This year they are looking to expand the group’s knowledge of other elements of the theatre, holding workshops in things like costume, lighting and sound and the ever-favourite stage-combat workshop.

The group is also working on its own play, hoping to stage it in the summer. They work hard, but don’t ever miss out on having fun while doing it. It is hoped that these Rising Stars will join the main SLTC club when they’re old enough, and continue to share their talents with local audiences.

The group is currently at capacity but has a waiting list if anyone is interested in getting information on how to get involved! Contact them via the ‘Scunthorpe Little Theatre Club – Fan Page’ page on Facebook.
