Gainsborough Methodist Church at 50 invites you to a party

by | 22 June 2018 | Community Event, Gainsborough

St Stephens/Gainsborough Methodist Church has been the landmark on the junction of North Street and Roseway for 50 years. The church is inviting you to come along and help celebrate this milestone at a party on Saturday 30th June.
There will be an exhibition open, and refreshments available from 10.30am to 2.00pm, the church will then open again from 5.00pm onwards for people to view the exhibition, followed by entertainment with a celebratory light buffet.

Perhaps you have had a connection with the church and would like to share those memories and memorabilia with the organisers? There will be an exciting timeline and a scrapbook and they are hoping that you will add your own contributions. There were many local donors and craftsmen in the construction and fitting out of the church. Unfortunately, the current committee cannot trace any. Were you, or any of your family, an apprentice or tradesman or merchant or benefactor? Rose-Forgrove, Gainsborough Craftsmen, Marshalls, Heppenstalls, Newsum Timber, Fisher Hollingsworth, Dorringtons and several other are in the church’s records.

On the Sunday morning there will be a Thanksgiving Service at 10.30am. If you have any artefacts, photos, documents or written memories the church would be delighted to borrow them for the weekend. Please call 01427 615420. You will be made extremely welcome at the party!
