Voglia d’Italia, the Italian Society for South Yorks and North Notts, presents:
“Sandro Botticelli”.
Dr Elena Kashina, University of York, gives an overview of the life and work of one of the leading painters of the Florentine Renaissance, whose “The Birth of Venus” and “Primavera” are among the most recognisable artworks today, but which, remarkably, fell into oblivion immediately after his death. Dr Kashina also examines what made Botticelli a favourite of Lorenzo de’ Medici (the Magnificent).
