Worksop Wonders WI face-to-face meetings have resumed with great success. The group has gained new members and is steadily growing.
So far speakers at the meetings have inspired members to ‘Colour Beautiful’ and have also informed them about the work of the Notts Blood Bikes.
This year Worksop Wonders is the lead WI group for the Sherwood and Ryton group of WIs. There was an afternoon tea to celebrate the 106th birthday of WI, where members from across the area’s WIs enjoyed the chance to meet.
The curling team took part in the annual North Nottinghamshire indoor curling event. They were self-admittedly out of practice, but it was a fun night. Maybe their bowling technique will improve before next year’s event!
The weekly craft sub-group is meeting at Thievesdale again, and are sure to be creating some beautiful items, while the walking sub-group is busy planning some winter walks that will undoubtedly take in a coffee shop or two.
In October, a Sunday trip to Cannon Hall for a tour followed by afternoon tea was a great success.
Future trips to the Pilgrim Ladies exhibition in Lincoln and also to Nottingham for a Christmas Special event at John Lewis are in the pipeline, and a full programme of mixed topics is now planned for the next seven months which should appeal to everyone’s taste and interests.
Further new members are very welcome. Meetings are held at 7.00pm on the second Wednesday of each month at The Crossing, Newcastle Avenue. The remaining meetings of 2021 will be on 10th November and 8th December.
The first two meetings that you attend are free of charge and annual membership is then £44.00 per year. This covers the cost of all meetings and eight copies of WI Life magazine, plus access to numerous county and national WI events. Go along and see what the WI has to offer!
