Finding connection and confidence through BabyBeats

Becoming a new mum can feel overwhelming at times — the world suddenly feels a little darker and lonelier. I remember being about four months postpartum with my first baby when I finally made my first “mum friend,” and honestly, it changed everything. Talking to another mum made me realise we were all feeling the same things — we just weren’t always saying them out loud.

Whenever I felt my mental health starting to dip, I’d remind myself, “Just get outside — you’ll feel better.” And I always did. A bit of sunshine, some fresh air, and those lovely endorphins really can turn you from a “Negative Nancy” into a “Positive Paula!” After having my second baby, I knew I wanted to do something to help other mums in my community — to give them a chance to connect, chat, and feel a little more like themselves again. That’s when I started BabyBeats Walk and Talk — a completely free group where mums can get out in the fresh air, have a good chin wag, and boost their mood together.

We’re often joined by local professionals like Pelvic Floor Physios, Breastfeeding Support Workers, and Weaning Specialists, who come along to offer friendly advice and answer any questions while we stroll. Alongside the walks, I’m also launching BabyBeats classes in the New Year! I’m qualified in pre- and post-natal exercise and absolutely love helping mums rebuild strength and confidence through postnatal yoga, gentle exercise, baby massage, baby yoga, and baby sensory activities — all designed to help you relax and bond with your little one.
