Celebrate creativity with Open Studios Notts

In the coming weeks artists and makers from across Nottinghamshire invite you to visit their studios and events. There is free entry to most events – a few make a small charge to help cover costs or for charity. Events local to us are:

Cath Ray Gallery And Studios

Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd May and Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th May

An art gallery and busy working art studios with regular classes, drop-in sessions and one-off workshops. There will be an exhibition of Alan Hazard paintings, alongside the craft shop & five studio artists in their studios. Alan Hazard will be there to talk to visitors about his work and exhibition.

  • Alison Beevers– nature-infused ecoprints, which capture organic forms and textures with subtle colours.
  • Mat Hurst – bold, expressive, atmospheric portraits blending raw emotion with cinematic stylised energy.
  • Tracey Page – prints, clay and watercolours inspired by nature and enthused by media exploration.
  • Bev Ramsbotham – delicate, hand-embroidered, miniature andscapes, natural monoprints and needlefelted brooches.
  • Cath Ray – atmospheric paintings and drawings of landscapes and townscapes in twilight.

Peter Rixham

Every weekend in May

Peter practices hand printing with wood blocks or Lino to create bespoke papers / fabrics. These are then used to create lampshades, cards, and other fabulous items.

Caroline Greyling

  • Suzanne Curtis – handmade textile and mixed media art with a magical, otherworldly, feel including velvet toadstools and crystal coronets.
  • Frances Alexandra Jewellery – handmade bespoke jewellery in platinum gold and silver using precious and semi-precious stones.
  • Dawn Idalia – contemporary drawing, photography and printmaking to investigate natural forms and make semi-abstract work.
  • Tracy Bramley (The P Pod) – handmade sculptural / functional ceramics using porcelain and stoneware that connect art with the natural world
