Anyone with an interest in the arts is welcome to explore the wide range of activities offered by The Arts Society Dukeries. The Society meets at Carlton Civic Centre and offers members a varied programme that includes monthly lectures, special interest days, holidays and theatre outings. Members also receive regular newsletters and The Arts Society magazine.
Visitors are welcome to attend lecture meetings by paying an admission fee at the door.

The Society celebrated its 45th anniversary at its May meeting and is now enjoying its summer break. The next lecture meeting will take place on Wednesday 7th October. Community projects continue throughout the year, and this summer the Society launched a new church trail at St Lawrence Church, Whitwell. Developed with the help of Reception pupils from Whitwell Primary School, the free Trail of Discovery has been designed for children aged approximately three to six and encourages them to explore the church using flashcards and a simple map.

A separate trail for older children is also available free of charge. During the launch event, children enjoyed discovering key features within the church, with the impressive tomb of Sir Roger Manners proving particularly popular. Families are invited to visit St Lawrence Church and try the trails.

The Society meets at Carlton Civic Centre, Long Lane, Carlton-in-Lindrick, S81 9AP. Lectures take place from 11.00am to 12.00pm, with refreshments available from 10.00am. Free parking is available.
