A host of popular running events are returning to the region, and the National Kidney Federation (NKF) is inviting runners to join #TeamNKF. Based at The Point, Shireoaks, the charity has partnered with Run for Charity to offer discounted charity places at events across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire. Whether celebrating a kidneyversary, supporting someone on dialysis, waiting for a transplant, remembering a loved one or simply standing alongside the kidney community, every runner can help make a real difference.

Events include:

  • Nottingham Running Festival (5K, 10K and Half Marathon) – Sunday 30th August at Colwick Park, Nottingham.
  • Derbyshire Dales Trail Run (9K, 12K and 15K) – Sunday 13th September in Bakewell.
  • Robin Hood Half Marathon – Sunday 27th September from Victoria Embankment, Nottingham.
  • Lincoln Half Marathon – Sunday 4th October at Lincolnshire Showground.
  • Leicester 10K – Sunday 7th February 2027 from Jubilee Square, Leicester.

Why your support matters

The National Kidney Federation is the UK’s largest kidney patient charity, run by kidney patients for kidney patients. Chief Executive Andrea Brown said: “By signing up for a running event, you’ll help ensure no one has to face kidney disease alone. We’re particularly proud of our free National Helpline and Information Service, which costs £100,000 a year to run and has already supported more than 1,600 people this year.

“We know that for many people battling the complexities of chronic kidney disease, a running challenge like this may not be possible. If you can’t take part, why not encourage a friend, family member or colleague to run in your honour?” To secure a place at any of these events, contact Suzanne Rutter by email at Suzanne@kidney.org.uk or call 01909 544990.
