Retford Authors Group Open Day

by | 19 May 2026 | Group meeting, Social Group, Worksop

On Saturday 6th June, the Retford Authors Group will host its annual Meet the Authors Day at Bassetlaw Museum, Grove Street, from 10.00am to 3.00pm.

The event offers an opportunity for both published and aspiring authors to gain advice and mentoring, as well as hear real-life experiences from the publishing journey. Visitors are invited to join the audience for the live filming of the group’s author podcasts, chat with members and learn more about their work.

Free tea and coffee will be available, along with the chance to browse a selection of recently published books. The group can offer guidance on publishing, formatting, cover design and the steps involved in becoming an author.

Talks and interviews throughout the day will cover topics such as writing routines, formatting and design, distribution options and the overall publishing process. Members write across a wide range of genres, including gothic horror, poetry, natural history, the environment, crime thrillers, history, children’s books and family history.

Visitors are also encouraged to explore the museum during their visit. A full programme of events can be found at http://www.retfordauthorsgroup.com or via the Retford Authors Group Facebook page.

Membership of the group is free, with members coming from Bawtry, Worksop, Retford, Gainsborough and Southwell. Anyone from the local area is welcome to attend and find out more.

Monthly meetings take place at the Best Western Hotel on North Road, Retford at 10.30am on the first Wednesday of the month and 7.30pm on the third Wednesday of the month.
