As spring and summer approach, Whitwell Bowls Club is looking forward to welcoming both new and returning players. Anyone seeking a new activity might consider giving lawn bowls a try.
Whitwell Bowls Club is a small, friendly club situated at Butt Hill in the village of Whitwell, easily accessible from surrounding areas. Social bowling sessions take place on Monday and Thursday evenings from 6.00pm to 8.00pm, and on Saturday afternoons from 2.00pm to 4.00pm, followed by tea and biscuits.
Although bowls is sometimes associated with older players, it is a sport suitable for all age groups and can be enjoyed by families together. It offers gentle exercise, fresh air and the opportunity to meet new people in a relaxed and sociable setting.
Experience is not necessary, as coaching is available. New players are asked to bring a pair of flat-soled shoes; bowls are available at the club. For more experienced players, the club also competes in two local leagues.
The season opens on Saturday 11th April at 1.45pm.
