The Worksop Miners Welfare Band is delighted to announce the launch of a new Training Band. This new initiative is designed to welcome absolute beginners, as well as returning players who may not have played for many years and are looking for a relaxed and supportive way to return to music-making.
The Training Band will run on Wednesday evenings, with short and friendly rehearsals focused on learning the basics, building confidence and, most importantly, enjoying playing music together. Instruments and music will be provided free of charge, and players of any age are welcome. The Training Band is intended to act as a stepping stone into the main Worksop Miners Welfare Band for those who wish to progress, helping to ensure the long-term future of the band. The aim is to return to full capacity in time for the band’s 200th anniversary in 2032.
A spokesperson for the band said that brass bands have always been at the heart of local communities, and that the Training Band is about opening the door to anyone who has ever thought they would like to have a go, or who played years ago and would like to rediscover that enjoyment in a friendly, no-pressure environment.
Worksop Miners Welfare Band has a long and proud history in the town and is keen to ensure that brass band music continues to thrive for future generations. The Training Band forms a key part of these plans, helping to grow the band while offering people the opportunity to learn a new skill, make friends and become part of a well-established local organisation.
