The Age of Cine: Cameras, Projectors and the Magic of Film

This exhibition showcases a selection of cine equipment designed for the home-movie market. Highlights include a range of cine cameras, among them the iconic 1920s Baby Pathé, as well as projectors and accessories. The display also features programmes from local cinemas and the original ticket machine from the Regal, Worksop. Together, these objects evoke memories of cinema-going and home filmmaking, offering a nostalgic look back at earlier technologies and a striking contrast with today’s digital world of film.
Sequins and Sparkles: A Fashion Exhibition

Enter a world of shimmering glamour with Sequins and Sparkles, an exhibition showcasing fashion from the twentieth century. The display features a striking array of garments made from fabrics with metallic threads and adorned with sequins and beads. A selection of dazzling nineteenth and twentieth-century jewellery and accessories completes the sparkle. Two sensational 1920s party dresses have just returned from a textile conservation studio and are now on display. Discover the power of light and reflection through these stunning pieces, where each sequin tells its own story and every sparkle invites you to shine.
Golden Light

An exhibition of paintings by Mark Bloomer. Mark Bloomer is a plein-air landscape painter and wildlife artist based in Retford, Nottinghamshire. He is a member of both Retford Art Society and Doncaster Art Club. Mark spends much of his time painting outdoors, capturing local scenes from everyday life. His preferred medium is oil, and he enjoys experimenting with new techniques and methods of working. A recent highlight was his appearance as a wildcard participant in the 2026 Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year competition in Keswick. From the nostalgia of Gone With the Wind to the confident fashions of Katharine Hepburn, women have long been inspired to recreate the glamour of film stars and feel halfway to Hollywood themselves through movie-imagined clothes. Like picture-goers of the thirties and forties, Lucy and Meridith invite you to escape into the world of cinema’s golden age as they explore sensational styles and stories from behind the camera, before revealing their own show-stopping transformation.
