This summer, Bassetlaw Food Bank experienced higher demand for emergency food parcels than in the previous two years, and the team anticipate this trend will continue throughout autumn and winter. When the weather turns colder, bills rise, and people spend more time indoors to escape the rain and cold, Bassetlaw Food Bank always sees an increase in requests for support. This happens every year – but so does the Harvest Festival.
Each year, the team at Bassetlaw Food Bank look forward to Harvest Festival, a time of sharing, giving, and caring. They are fortunate to receive support from many schools, churches, and community groups across Bassetlaw during this period. Donations of food, toiletries, and cleaning products help set them up for their busiest time of year – the winter months.
These generous contributions warm hearts, fill the shelves, and keep volunteers and staff busy checking dates and rotating stock to ensure the shortest-dated items are used first, helping to reduce waste. The Bassetlaw Food Bank team would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported them – every school class, congregation, community group member, teacher, parent, and individual.
