Didn’t December sneak up quickly? It seems to come round faster every year. Just when the last of the Christmas cards have been taken down and recycled and we’ve all breathed a sigh of relief, there are mince pies in the shops again!
Not that anyone’s really complaining. It’s a lovely time of year, a chance for a bit of self-indulgence and, more importantly, an opportunity to reconnect with family, friends, and acquaintances. December is always a special time for Wednesday Group members.
The group celebrates with a Christmas lunch at the West Retford Hotel, a welcome day when no one has to cook, wash up, or plan activities. It’s all about enjoying good food, warm company, and time together with friends and supporters. While not everyone can join in person, the group is always grateful for the kindness of those who support them – including one very generous friend who prefers to contribute towards expenses rather than attend, ensuring the day remains focused on the members themselves.
As the group reflects on the meaning of the season, they encourage everyone to give the greatest gift of all – kindness.
The Wednesday Group wishes everyone a happy and kind Christmas. If you care for someone with dementia, have a diagnosis yourself, or simply want to learn more about the group, please contact Jan on 01777 709974 or 07969 180067, or email janwilliamson133@gmail.com for details and current availability.
There is a short waiting list at present, but it’s always worth enquiring, as spaces can become available. Sessions cost £10.00, including lunch — and your first visit is free!
