The cricket season came to an end on the second weekend in September. Whiston Parish Church Cricket Club’s 1st XI celebrated promotion to the YCSPL Premier League with a final-day victory. The club’s overseas professional, Arman Jaffer, enjoyed a hugely successful season, scoring more than 1,400 runs.
The 2nd XI endured relegation to Division 6 but will begin next season with a renewed focus on promising juniors who have gained valuable experience playing in the Sunday Development XI.
The Whiston Parish Belles had a fantastic year, winning the Division 3 East Softball section and topping it off by triumphing in the end-of-season Top of the Table Bash. The Hardball team also had a solid season, finishing mid-table in the Super 8 East Division.
There was further success at junior level, with strong performances from the Under-9, Under-11 and Under-15 teams.
The club will remain open most weekdays from 4.00pm and from 12.00pm at weekends during the off-season.
