To all the citizens of Worksop and surrounding villages who contributed to the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal 2024 – a big thank you. The Shoebox Appeal for 2025 will soon be upon us and, although the rising cost of living is affecting all households in some way, Christmas remains a time to celebrate the greatest gift given to us all – the birth of Jesus and the gift of love. The citizens of Worksop and surrounding villages are once again invited to become involved in the 2025 Appeal.
Free pre-printed shoeboxes, along with a leaflet of what can and cannot be packed, are available from Worksop Christian Centre Life, Vicars Walk, Worksop. National Collection Week this year is Monday 10th to Monday 17th November. Shoeboxes can be dropped off Monday to Friday between 11.00am and 3.00pm, or Sunday 10.00am to 1.00pm. Worksop Christian Centre is a designated Church Collection Centre. A donation of £5.00 per box is required to cover shipping and project costs. This can be made online at http://www.samaritans-purse.org.uk – please print off the barcode receipt and place it in your shoebox.
When completing a shoebox, please remove price labels. Do not put individual pens or pencils in your shoebox – leave them in the packet they were purchased in. The same applies to items such as hair clips or slides attached to cards; please do not remove them. Items in plastic wrapping, such as toothbrushes, should also be left in their wrapping. Please do not include toothpaste, sweets, chocolate, used items or religious literature. Only pre-printed shoeboxes or those obtained from shoe shops should be used, as these are packed into larger cartons for transportation.
