This October, three local NHS hospital charities are inviting you to come together with your friends, family and our community for a special memory walk around the beautiful Manvers Lake in Rotherham. The Autumn Memory Walk, a brand new event organised by Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity, Barnsley Hospital Charity, and Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals Charity, promises to be a moving day of reflection and celebration. It will take place on Sunday 19th October from 11.00am (registration from 10.00am).

Sponsored by RNN Group, this special event offers participants the chance to remember loved ones who are no longer with us, while also supporting the incredible work of our local NHS charities. Whether you’re walking in memory of a family member or a friend, the Autumn Memory Walk provides a gentle space to reflect and come together as one community. By taking part, you’re doing more than remembering – you’re helping our NHS go further, for everyone. Funds raised for Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity will support their Dementia Appeal, aiming to raise £250,000 in 12 months to enhance care for patients living with dementia and their families. Rachael Dawes, Head of Fundraising for Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity said: “Bringing an event like this to our community is something we’ve hoped to do for a long time, so we’re delighted to now be launching the Autumn Memory Walk with our NHS charity partners. We know how important it is for people to have a space to honour their loved ones, and this event is a really special opportunity to do that together. “Not only are we remembering those we’ve lost, but every step taken helps us support patients, families and NHS staff in South Yorkshire.”

As walkers complete the 5km route around the lake, they’ll be welcomed at the finish line with refreshments and a chance to reflect. There will be an opportunity for walkers to leave a written message in honour of their loved one on the charities memory tree. By joining the local NHS charities for this thoughtful event, you’ll be helping other families facing difficult times while celebrating those whose memories live on.
