Whiston Parish Council has launched an exciting initiative in partnership with Rotherham Council’s Countryside Ranger Team to remove the invasive Himalayan balsam from the local area. The picking season, which runs from May to August each year, is now underway.

Volunteers are needed on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 9th July, 10.00am to 1.00pm
  • Saturday 19th July, (time to be confirmed)
  • Saturday 9th August, 10.00am to 1.00pm
  • Wednesday 20th August, 10.00am to 1.00pm

Some of these dates will also involve support from partner agencies including the Environment Agency and Don Catchment Rivers Trust.
