Are you retired or semi-retired and finding it difficult to fill the time on your hands? Would you like to find a new hobby or return to an old one? Would you like to meet new people and make new friends? Then Worksop and District u3a could be just the thing for you.

As well as a friendly meeting on the third Thursday of every month, held at Carlton Civic Centre, the local u3a has over 30 interest groups offering a variety of activities, including sports, crafts, games, music, arts, hobbies and social events.

The Guest Speaker at the next meeting on Thursday 19th June will be Cambridge historian Adrian Gray. His topic is ‘Richard Bernard – Worksop, Witches and a Place in American History’. Richard Bernard was born in Tudor Epworth and became a great figure amongst the puritans and separatists under James I. Today he is best-known for his authoritative guide on witches, based on his experience in Worksop.

The meeting will be held at Carlton in Lindrick Civic Centre from 1.30pm to 4.00pm. It is open to existing members and anyone interested in learning more about the u3a.

Last month Worksop and District u3a were happy to welcome magician Bernie Pedley once again as guest speaker. After amazing members with some mind-boggling magic tricks in 2023, they were delighted to welcome him back to talk about different types of magic, how he became involved, and culminating in part of his professional show.

You can find full details of u3a membership on their website, www.worksop.u3asite.uk, or call Sam on 0300 030 9960.
