Rotherham’s George Hudson is hoping to spread positive messages about living with mental health conditions as a finalist in the Warrior Charity Pageant 2025.

The 26-year-old was a finalist in Mr Gay Great Britain 2023 and is now taking to the limelight once again, determined to demonstrate that we should all feel proud of who we are and to use this at a platform for highlighting mental health support.

He said: “Mr Gay Great Britain was a brilliant experience and it opened my eyes to the fact you don’t have to be ashamed to be gay. That’s the main reason I am proud of the title.

“It was the first time, in a long time, that I was in a crowd with strangers and they all made me feel very comfortable.

“I was bullied for being gay at school and was misunderstood, so I thought I would just go for it and do it. When I got through to the finals, it gave me confidence to do other things.”

George entered the Warrior Charity Pageant as it championed overcoming invisible illnesses. He believes his mental health has held him back in the past, but now he’s learning to live differently.

“I don’t do too many competitions as they are not many around that stand out to me, but I do find that being in a competition helps my mental health,” George added.

“It has taken me a while to find the confidence to do another competition, but this one is special because it is for mental health awareness

“People should know what mental health is and how bad it can get for someone. I tried to end my life numerous times because of bullying and mental health but it shouldn’t be like this.”

Good luck to George in the finals this November.
