Ravenfield Art Group will be hosting its annual art exhibition on the weekend of Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th May, from 10.00am to 4.00pm each day, in Ravenfield Parish Hall. 28 local artists will exhibit over 250 works of original art at affordable prices. There will be something for everyone: watercolours, pastels, acrylic, pen and ink, and much more. Local craftspeople exhibiting include a fused glass artist and a ceramicist, both displaying their wares.
Visitors will be entertained by live music on saxophone and keyboard by two of the group’s supporters, while local artist Paul Freeman will give demonstrations of his art. Last year, over 70 works of art were sold, including some sculptures.
As in previous years, two other local community groups will provide teas, coffees, juice, and a selection of cakes and biscuits. Go and join an artistic weekend. Drawing facilities will be provided for children.
Ravenfield Art Group meets twice a month in the Parish Hall on Birchwood Drive. The group currently has 28 members and a short waiting list due to limited table space. Ages range from one member still at school to those in their 70s.
Meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month, from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. It is a group for anyone who wants to develop their creative skills, with both experts and beginners welcome.
On the first session, the second Tuesday of each month, tuition is provided by visiting professional artists or members of the group who volunteer to help others. The second session, on the fourth Tuesday of the month, is a free-choice and follow-up evening. Members use a wide range of media, including pencil drawing, watercolours, oils, pastels, acrylics, computer art, collage, and more.
