Winthrop is recruiting
The new Café at Winthrop is a great success – the regulars are visiting even more often and they’ve lots of first time visitors. And that means they need more volunteers! The Café team is welcoming, friendly and fun! Just a few hours every couple of weeks would be a real help!

What a great International Women’s Day!
The women who attended the Winthrop International Women’s Day event, which focused on ‘Identity’, chose to raise funds for the Toybox charity. Toybox work in many countries helping to get children off the streets and a key step in making this happen is to register their birth, given them a name and get them a birth certificate. This enables the child to be come a citizen and access education, health provision etc. Winthrop worked with a project in Nairobi where it costs just £12 to register a birth. This proved a very popular cause and to date £1,917 has been raised – enough to get 160 children registered! Everyone is absolutely delighted as its much more than they expected to raise at their modest afternoon event.
VE Day
