Acorn theatre fundraising speeding along

Been to the Acorn Theatre lately? Had to queue for the loo during the interval? Well, here’s some encouraging news that will give you hope!

The volunteers at the Acorn Community Theatre are working very hard on their aim to remodel the building and provide, among other improvements, more toilet facilities for their audiences. As the theatre is a not-for profit registered charity, which is run without public subsidy, any money needed for such developments has to be raised by the volunteers themselves.

Over the past two years, since the ‘Spend a Penny’ appeal was launched, various fundraising events have been held, including a 24-hour singalong, two comedy nights, a craft fair, stalls at other events and many bucket collections.

The most recent Comedy Night, held on 4th April, featured eight different comedians with varied humour styles, which gave the audience a very enjoyable night out.

On Friday 2nd May the Acorn is holding ‘Sing-a-long To The Musicals’. Here audiences can sing and dance along to songs from Six, Wicked, Frozen, Hamilton and many more famous musical shows. Tickets are £5.00, available from the Acorn website (www.acorntheatre.org) or by calling the Ticket Source Booking Line on 0333 666 3366.

Other events already in the planning include a quiz and future craft fairs.

So far more than £10,000 has been raised towards this appeal, due to the hard work of many volunteers. So how can you help? Attend the fundraising events and donate what you can spare – every little helps!

If you are a local company wishing to support local organisations, here’s your opportunity! If you would like to join in the fundraising as an Acorn volunteer, send an email to info@acorntheatre.org – you’d be very welcome.

The Acorn is a community theatre run by volunteers for the people of Worksop and district. Please lend your support, to help in the provision of live theatre for all.
