Bassetlaw Children’s Unit
Recently, members of Worksop Rotary were invited on a ‘thank you’ tour of the new Children’s Assessment Unit at Bassetlaw Hospital. The unit features an outdoor play area with sturdy toys and an indoor waiting room with additional stimulating toys. The play area is designed not only to provide a distraction for children awaiting treatment but also to accommodate siblings of unwell children, allowing parents to attend appointments with greater ease. The space will be maintained by a team of three play leaders. Even the clinical area has been decorated with paintings of trees, and the children’s cots are adorned with cartoon animals.
The hospital trust stated that they wanted the Children’s Assessment Unit – and the A&E Department –to set a new standard, and they have certainly achieved this. The project was funded by a government grant of £18.5 million, with an additional £3.5 million allocated from the trust’s own budget. The furnishing of the department was made possible through charitable donations, to which the Rotary Club of Worksop contributed.
Presentation to Morrisons of Worksop
The presentation of a cheque by the Rotary Club of Worksop to Morrisons for their nominated charity, Bluebell Wood, was made possible thanks to the generous donations from shoppers at the Worksop store before Christmas.
