Retford Community Singers’ new term begins on Tuesday 7th January, 7.00pm to 8.30pm, in Chapelgate Hall, located at the rear of Grove Street Methodist Church, Retford DN22 6LA. Each session costs £5.00, with concessions available for those receiving means-tested benefits.
Recently, the choir enjoyed a brilliant session as part of the Star Festival at Grove Street Methodist Church, celebrating all things stellar.
Despite a very wet day, the church provided a beautiful setting to sing, and the audience warmly appreciated the performance. While the choir primarily focuses on singing for the joy of it, they also relish the opportunity to perform in the community.
The programme included songs celebrating Retford’s forgotten stars, tunes about sunshine and darkness, and a powerful number from South Africa. Under the expert leadership of Janet Wood, the choir delivered an impressive sound – even from some members who had never sung in a choir before or had been discouraged from singing in the past.
All are welcome to join, regardless of experience. There’s no need to read music or audition, and the sessions are friendly and uplifting.
