New Café development

Winthrop Gardens, located at Second Lane, off Morthen Road, Wickersley S66 1EE are delighted that the building of their new Café is now underway. Many customers are visiting more regularly to watch progress – which has been surprisingly swift! And they’re delighted that Claywoods, the contractors, are working closely with them to enable them to remain open with minimal disruption. The plans are for Winthrop to operate from the existing Café until they close for the festive break in December and then reopen at the start of February 2025 in the new Café building.

Walking at Winthrop

There are now two weekly walking groups at Winthrop – open to all and with no charge to take part. More and more people are recognising the physical and mental benefits of walking and ‘walking and talking’ is an activity with even greater benefits, which Winthrop’s weekly walks strive to encourage.

‘Seasonal Strolls’ meet every Tuesday at 1.30pm

These are circular walks from Winthrop which take no more than an hour. The aim is to support and encourage people to get walking and become confident walkers! These will be easy walks of around a mile and allow people to walk at their own pace with the support of Winthrop’s experienced Volunteer Walk Leaders.

If you arrive early you can enjoy a light lunch of some homemade soup and a warm crusty roll! Or maybe stay after for a cuppa and some delicious homemade cake?

‘Wednesday Walks’ meet every Wednesday at 10.30am

This group meet every Wednesday (at Winthrop, except on the last Wednesday of the month when the group meets elsewhere to enjoy walks slightly further afield. This group do longer, circular walks generally around three miles returning to Winthrop for lunchtime refreshments.
