Worksop Wonders WI

The start of the year did not go as Worksop Wonders WI had planned, with their January meeting and birthday party being postponed due to COVID-19.

With restrictions easing, however, they are now looking forward to Spring with their next meeting on Wednesday 9th March at 7.00pm at Thievesdale Community Centre.

They will be joined by guest speaker the Baroness of Bolsover, giving a talk and demonstration about ‘Tea Etiquette’.

All future meetings will be held at the Thievesdale Community Centre from 7.00pm to 9.00pm on the second Wednesday of the month, except in August. The WI is planning an interesting and varied program of guest speakers to add variety to the meetings.

The group will be organising various day trips and events for members throughout the year. They started this year’s trips in February with a fantastic visit to the Nottingham University Astrology department to explore the stars.

The monthly craft sub-group is meeting at Thievesdale on Thursday afternoons, and they are hoping to get the walking subgroup up and running (well, walking!) during spring. The first meeting of the newly formed Book Club is also fast approaching.

Membership continues to grow, and further new members are very welcome to attend meetings. The first two meetings you attend are free of charge to give you the opportunity to see what the WI is all about.

Annual membership is then £44.00 per year. This covers the cost of all meetings and eight copies of WI Life magazine, plus access to numerous county events.
