They have never been busier than they are now at Mayflower Animal Sanctuary in Bawtry; lots of dogs and cats are going to their new homes and the excitement is great to see, both with the new owners and the dogs.
Unfortunately, they have been caring for a couple of really sick dogs recently – Angel, a Romanian cross breed, has a STD so is on chemotherapy and Herbie had to have his eye out but, luckily, he is now fit and well and has already gone home to his new mum and dad. Mick, whose wound from an abscess would not heal, has had his operation to close the wound and he is getting better by the day and ready to be adopted; he is a little Shepherd cross and beautiful.
The treatment for sick animals doesn’t come cheap, so they are back to most of their fundraising activities now. They are running an online auction to help with Herbie’s eye operation and still have their fantastic online shop; please take a look, you may pick up a bargain.
Tickets are now available for their May Ball at the Crown Hotel in Bawtry on Friday 6th May. They are £55.00 per person and include a three course meal, a drink on arrival and a disco. There will also be a live auction and a raffle. For tickets call Mags on 07776 783242.
The annual Dog Walk and Dog Show are to take place this year, and dates are waiting to be confirmed. The Sanctuary is also planning an open day which, after two years of restrictions, will be amazing; again they are just waiting for confirmation of dates. So, watch this space.
