Nearly 4,000 people have dementia across Rotherham Borough. There is increasing reliance upon family and friends for support. With this in mind, Home Instead Senior Care is now establishing free Rotherham Community Dementia Workshops, as part of their commitment to help end social isolation and improve the lives of older local people.
The first two workshops have been organised and take place on 30th April from 1.30pm to 3.30pm at The Barn, St Albans Church Rooms, Wickersley and on 4th June from 1.30pm to 3.30pm at Todwick Village Hall.
The workshops are designed for anyone supporting loved ones or friends with dementia. They will cover topics including the symptoms of dementias, understanding behaviours, improving communications, practical issues and the benefits of activities.
