At the August meeting of the Tuesday Social Group at Carlton in Lindrick Methodist Church, members along with guests from the community enjoyed a fun musical afternoon. Andrew Barber performed well loved songs and monologues, accompanied by Alan Hindmarch on the piano.
The concert was held in memory of Andrew’s late mother Amy, who was the longest serving member of the Carlton in Lindrick Methodist Church and is greatly missed. The money raised at this event will go to church funds.
At the September meeting, members of the Tuesday Social group were joined by the members of the Carlton In Lindrick Methodist Church, along with members of the community for a Vintage Cinema Afternoon Matinee. Everyone enjoyed their trip down memory lane, beginning with the 1939 news review of the year, cartoons, trailers and old Pearl and Dean advertisements. During the intermission, ice cream cones and tea and biscuits were served. There was also an optional raffle.
Then everyone settled down for the ‘Big Film’, Arnold Ridley’s Ghost Train starring Arthur Askey. The event was well attended and funds raised will go towards the upkeep of the church.
At the October meeting on the 10th the group will be making Christmas decorations with an angel theme ready for the
‘Christmas Tree Festival’. Everyone is welcome to join members. There will be table top games and of course a good old natter over a cup of tea. At the December meeting, there will be a Christmas Show by Nostalgia called ‘Christmas Memories’.
