The Oasis Community Centre and Church

The Oasis Community Centre and Church opened in 2011. It is a church whose members have a heart for the community in Kilton and all of the Bassetlaw area, and a heart for God. We are a Bible believing church who love God and each other, we believe God loves every person and has a plan for their lives. As it says in Jeremiah 29 verse 11. “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.” At the Oasis we serve an amazing God, who wants us to love and serve our community.

We provide a multi-purpose community centre with different groups of all ages from toddlers through to the elderly. We also provide courses, workshops, activities and events for the community to help bring them together and create a community hub and a heart for the area. Our plans this year are to have four seasons events which includes an Easter Festival (16th April), a Summer Gala (8th July), an Autumn Light Night (27th October) and a Winter Wonderland (9th December).

At the centre there is a garden enterprise project and a team of volunteers would welcome anyone who wishes to join us to gain experience and life skills. The Oasis has a very large beautiful garden to maintain with polytunnels, a solar dome, nature garden, orchard and children’s storybook play corner.

Throughout the year we run a number of childrens’ programmes during term time and school holidays. On Tuesdays it is Oasis Tots from 10.00am to 12.00pm and on Fridays it is the Oasis Kids (ages five to 11) from 6.00pm to 7.00pm and Oasis Youth (ages 11 to 16) from 6.00pm to 7.00pm. During Easter and summer we run a holiday club for ages five to 11 for two hours, three days a week. We have recently started a Treasured Kids project for children with special educational needs.

The Oasis has various providers for its elderly projects, including respite care, Alzheimer’s groups and courses. On Thursdays we run a group called Face to Face which includes crafts and a two course meal followed by time to share. This starts at 10.00am. There is a family service every Sunday at 4.00pm which everyone is welcome to come to.
