The Acorn Community Theatre

by | 20 November 2022 | Community facility, Worksop

The Acorn Community Theatre is a superb 200-seat all-age community theatre for entertainment, training and participation in the performing and visual arts in the heart of Worksop.

Developed, managed and run entirely by volunteers, The Acorn opened in November 2006 on Queen Street in the centre of Worksop, where once stood the Worksop URC Church Hall.

This fabulous venue has a licensed bar, professional box office and 200-seat flexible auditorium, and is used by many local performing and community groups as well as professional artists and touring companies.

Since opening in 2006, The Acorn has entertained thousands of audience members and developed a well-deserved reputation as an excellent town centre venue for professional and community performances as well as other events and community uses.
There is a packed programme of professional entertainment ranging from drama, comedy and children’s shows to live music and dance.

The fully licensed bar serves a range of bottled beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks, while the kiosk serves tea, coffee, ice cream and confectionary.

The Acorn hosts performances by local dance schools, theatre schools and amateur dramatics groups, in addition to being home to a 200-strong youth theatre.
