JazzSteps Live at the Library
Tuesday 12th October, 7.30pm to 9.30pm

The first gig this autumn, it features a quartet led by acclaimed Nottingham-based trumpet player and composer Hugh Pascall. Their jazz is melodic and vibrant, with swinging modal explorations complemented by beautiful expressive ballads, rich in harmony and character. It’s a modern, fresh approach to post-bop jazz, influenced by the music from the likes of jazz greats Freddie Hubbard, Joe Henderson, and Wayne Shorter.
Hugh’s quartet features top musicians from the UK jazz scene: Liam Dunachie on keys, Oli Hayhurst on bass and Jay Davis on drums. Tickets are £10.00 and booking is highly advised (limited places). M6 Theatre Company present ‘Mavis Sparkle’

Mavis is a cleaner with an extraordinary story to tell, she is on a journey north to see nature’s biggest light show with her own eyes. With a cleaning trolley full of secrets and surprises, and a little help from Spike the hedgehog, Mavis moves ever closer to making her dream come true. Featuring a heart-warming mix of illusion, animation and captivating performance, this life-affirming production inspires us all to be brave, dust away doubts and reach for the stars!

Heritage talk: ‘Footpads, Kings and Highwaymen’

The journey described by Ian Morgan covers just 34 miles, following the old Great North Road through Nottinghamshire, and in that short distance you will see the scenes of horrific battles, the haunts of highwaymen, the sites of murder and much, much more.
