Aurora Wellbeing Centre, which is based in the Old Library in Worksop, is a local charity which aims to help support local people with a cancer diagnosis. As part of the service staff and volunteers provide to the local community, they provide a package of six free therapy treatments to help boost self-esteem and self-confidence whilst undergoing and recovering from cancer related treatments. The beauty therapists on site are also available for the general public to use — so why not book a treatment?
But the centre is not just about helping people with cancer. They offer a wide range of services ranging from drop in support groups for bereavement counselling, carers in the community as well as craft groups and classes in pilates, yoga and tai chi. There is a Care to Give shop on site as well as Valerie’s Tearoom which serves freshly prepared food at reasonable prices.
Aurora is having a fundraising event in The Priory Church on Wednesday 6th September. Aurora staff, volunteers and friends will be modelling a range of high street fashions from brands such as Marks and Spencer, Wallis, Planet and Monsoon at 75% off retail prices! There will also be a wide range of stalls selling handbags, make-up jewellery and homeware for you to browse. The event starts at 7.00pm and tickets are £8.50 which includes a glass of wine.
