The Bassetlaw branch of Parkinson’s UK continues its aim of demonstrating that there is life to be enjoyed despite some of the difficulties that the condition can sometimes cause. A splendid lunch together at The Chequers Inn at Ranby, an afternoon tea cruise on the River Trent and a tea party at the Aurora Centre all made up the programme of outings in the past month. They were all greatly enjoyed by everyone.
Members also commenced a ceramics course and will spend the next 10 Monday mornings creating all manner of ‘masterpieces’. This promises to be great fun in a friendly environment, with much laughter and camaraderie. The guest speaker at the monthly meeting was Tony Leake, talking about the benefits of relaxation for people with Parkinson’s, their family and carers. This was a popular presentation that was well received.
The November calendar sees Jo Pritchard talking to the branch on the 7th about the benefits of Tai Chi and a coach trip to Lincoln with a guided tour of the cathedral on Wednesday 15th, followed by a late lunch at Burton Waters to round off the day. New members have again been welcomed both in September and October and will hopefully enjoy the full and varied programme of events planned. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at 2.00pm at Worksop Cricket Club, Central Avenue. For more details call Chris on 01909 730629.
