The April meeting of Bassetlaw Branch Parkinson’s was very well attended and gave a warm welcome return to Mike Davey, who gave an excellent presentation about the historic houses and gardens of the National Trust. The Branch continues to grow as more people with the condition find the hand of friendship and support awaits them and quickly agree that there is an active social life to be enjoyed despite some of the difficulties they may have. The social calendar includes a visit to Retford Majestic Theatre on 7th May to see ‘My Fair Lady’, a lunch party at The Lockkeeper on 21st May and a day trip to York on 13th June. It is also planned to repeat the popular Trent River Cruise with afternoon tea on 12th September. The speaker for the next meeting on Tuesday 1st May comes from Parkinson’s UK and will talk about the work of the charity. For more information about the branch and its many activities including swimming, Pilates, pottery and computer classes, call Chris Coldwell on 01909 730629.
