Local charity Home-Start Newark are recruiting volunteers for their exciting Home-Visiting Volunteers training course (school-friendly hours) in September. All their volunteers are trained to a high level during the course in which they can also learn new skills and make friends. New potential volunteers can enrol any time between July and mid-September, find out more about the role and do some pre-course learning.
Home-Start Newark are holding a ‘Come and Find Out’ coffee morning at the YMCA on Tuesday 1st September from 10.00am to 11.30am – just turn up, have some cake and find out more about what’s involved. Alternatively, you can contact them anytime using the contact details below. Home-Start Newark offers support to parents with at least one child under the age of five. Their Home-Visiting Volunteer programme supports families within their own home for a couple of hours a week to offer practical and emotional support and help families to engage with other services. They also offer Family Group twice a week, offering support to families who would like to meet other parents, enabling their children to play in a safe environment, supporting children’s development, and providing a healthy breakfast to every child. Staff and volunteers are onsite to offer emotional and practical support to families. Without this support, many families may have faced greater challenges associated with money, debt or housing problems, lack of support, health or wellbeing needs, loneliness and inequality, as well as all the challenges that go hand-in-hand with being a parent.

I understand what it is like to feel lost and need that little pick up that people can give.
