A mini music festival is taking place in Sutton on Trent on Saturday 21st September to celebrate the life and memory of Yasmine McClory, who lived in the village but passed away very suddenly in February of this year at the age of 20.

On what would have been her 21st birthday weekend, ‘Yasfest’ will raise money for the Yasmine McClory Foundation, a non-profit set up by her family in her memory to continue her legacy by supporting causes important to her, including:

  • Food poverty
  • LGBTQ+ mental health
  • Children with learning disabilities
  • Medical conditions affecting quality of life

The event, taking place from 1.00pm at Sutton on Trent Sports Club will feature a variety of acts and give local musicians an opportunity to perform.

Her sister Jess said: “Yasmine was one of the kindest, most selfless people you would ever meet. Donating to a variety of causes, taking in people when they had nowhere else to go, offering support in times of crisis, and making sure businesses were held accountable for their actions.

“Music had been a big part of Yasmine’s life – singing in bands from a young age, learning to play numerous instruments over the years, and studying at the prestigious Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies – so it seems fitting to celebrate her with lots of noise and joy.”
