Walesby Village craft & sew groups

Hello to all the crafters out there, it is time for a recap on the very successful Wednesday craft groups at the Walesby Village Hall.

The afternoon group is firmly established with 12 regular members meeting to share their skills, talents and enjoy some social time with lots of laughter. It is a lovely group and members have enjoyed a couple of lunch outings this year. The first being a hot lunch at the Greendale Oak back in May — the food was well cooked, reasonably priced and the company was great.

Their second outing was during the hall’s closure last month when members became ‘ladies wot lunched’ and spent a fabulous couple of hours at the Rufford Golf Club for Afternoon Tea. This comes highly recommended, as the group enjoyed beautiful surroundings, friendly staff and a fabulous menu.

Members meet every Wednesday afternoon from 1.00pm to 3.00pm and the cost is £2.00, for which you get tea, coffee and the occasional bit of cake. All are welcome with any craft or hobby, or just join the group for the social aspect.
The evening sewing group introduced earlier this year is really becoming as great a gathering of likeminded crafters as the afternoon group. Members have made many projects since starting and welcome new sewing people as well as ladies already established with their machines. This group meets from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on Wednesday evenings and is open to new members, but spaces are filling so don’t miss out. The number to contact for further information is 01623 836582.

The group showcases its creations on Facebook — head to Crafty ‘appenings to see some of the lovely makes which include cards, knitting, crochet, tapestry, needle felting, patchwork, dressmaking and crafty sews. If you are wanting to learn how to use that machine that’s still sitting in its box come along, bring it and get the help you need whether it be sewing machine or overlocker. The cost is £2.00 per session.
