Tyler closes in on regional series win

Mansfield Triathlon Club’s Tyler Broome followed up his recent second place at Duston with two emphatic wins at Darley Moor and Nottingham to make him the region’s top placed competitor in his category.

In the TriStar 1 category at Darley Moor the club took two podium places with Tyler placed first in 14 minutes and 50 seconds, just 11 seconds ahead of teammate Dillon Preece in 15 minutes and 1 second; only 17 seconds behind was-Mansfield’s James Flint, just missing out on a podium place in a hard fought contest. Jack Sault (16 minutes and 48 seconds) and Felix Wilson (19 minutes and 12 seconds) completed the club’s strong showing in this category with Anna Woodhall placing strongly for the girls in 20 minutes and 12 seconds. Competing in the TriStar 2 race was Jack Mottram (20 minutes and 10 seconds) and Harry Elliott (21 minutes and 17 seconds) for the boys with Daisy Wilson putting in a fine effort for the girls in 21 minutes and 20 seconds. The club was well represented in the TriStar 3 category with great performances from Finaly Preece in 24 minutes and 16 seconds, just ahead of Ben Davies in 24 minutes and 41 seconds and Kurtis Nogueira in 25 minutes and 50 seconds. Finishing virtually together for the girls were Emily Alcock and Freya Mottram in 27 minutes and 34 seconds and 27 minutes and 53 seconds respectively.

Tyler’s second win came at Nottingham where he was again pushed hard by his teammates. Tyler won the TS1 race in the blistering time of 13 minutes. Next in for the club was James Flint in 14 minutes and 30 seconds with Dillon Preece hot on his heels in 14 minutes and 46 seconds. Alfie Brown (16 minutes and 11 seconds) and Felix Wilson (17 minutes and 30 seconds) completed the club’s TS1 boys team with Charlotte Alcock finishing in 15 minutes and 13 seconds for the girls. The club fielded just two competitors in the TS2 category. First home for the club was Daisy Wilson in 27 minutes and 59 seconds with Sophie Lagoe not far behind in just 28 minutes and 57 seconds. Emily Alcock represented the girls in the TS3 race, crossing the line in 32 minutes and 36 seconds with Ben Davies and Finlay Preece finishing in 29 minutes and 13 seconds and 30 minutes and 54 seconds to reverse their placing at Darley Moor.

Several of the club’s adults also took important wins and podium positions in a number of local races. In the Delta Simons Aquathlon Series, held at South Hykeham, Michelle Willcocks was first placed woman in the round one race, completing the 800m swim and 3000m run in 25 minutes and 53 seconds whilst Chris Holmes took a strong second in the men’s event in 24 minutes and 18 seconds. At the Bramcote Aquathlon Chris took third place having completed the 400m swim and 5000m run in just 26 minutes 18 seconds. Meanwhile, Stephen Fowkes won first in category at the Dambuster standard distance triathlon in 3 hours 2 minutes and 36 secs for a 10 second PB. At the Holkham Outlaw Half he completed the half Ironman distance event in just 6 hours 39 minutes and 52 seconds.
