The Dukeries Community Band – come and join the band!

by | 15 October 2023 | Hobbies, Music, Sherwood

The Dukeries Community Band is a wind band comprising brass, woodwind and percussion instruments.

New players are welcome to any of their rehearsals to join in straight away (no audition) or just to listen. The Band are always happy to have new players, of any age. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t played for a while, or have started to learn fairly recently – although you must be able to read music.

They particularly need more brass players. Their wonderful saxophonists do a fantastic job playing parts that should be played by brass instruments, but it would be so nice to have the music played by the correct instruments.

So, if you play trumpet / cornet, trombone, euphonium, baritone horn, French horn or tuba and think you would enjoy playing in a band, please email dukeriescommband@btinternet.com or just go along and try them out.

They rehearse each Tuesday during term time at the Dukeries Academy, Ollerton from 7.00pm to 9.00pm.

With an ever-increasing repertoire featuring pop to classical with lots in between, there is plenty for everyone to enjoy.

Their concerts support the local community and charities. They are always happy to hear from organisations who would like the Band to play for them.
