Retford Textile Group

The Retford Textile Group (formerly North Nottinghamshire Embroidery Guild) has had a very busy and creative few months.

At the end of summer members took part in a mono printing course with a professional textiles artist from Nottingham. This enjoyable, half-day workshop session resulted in some very creative inspirational designs.

During September members took part in Retford Heritage Day, with some demonstrating textile skills in the town hall. The club enjoyed meeting potential new members and introducing them to the type of new skills and workshops they offer each month.

The club welcomed Polly Warren to a recent session, where she demonstrated lino printing and members created some of their own designs and prints.

Moving forward to the later autumn months, the group begins preparations for Christmas. They will once again be partaking in various church Christmas events, with some exciting projects planned.

Retford Textile Group is a not-for-profit group, so membership rates are extremely reasonable. Materials are often shared or provided, although a basic sewing kit is essential. The group’s aim is to introduce members to new textile processes through practical demonstrations and outside speakers.

Members travel into Retford from various local towns and villages. They meet on the first Wednesday of each month (except August) at 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start. Members of all ages meet at Grove Street Methodist Church Back Room. For more information contact Carrie on 01623 863327.
