Edwinstowe Remembrance 2022

by | 12 November 2022 | Community Event, Heritage, Sherwood

This year the local branch of the Royal British Legion will again be following the traditional format for their celebration of Remembrance in Edwinstowe. This will take place on Sunday 13th November and will follow an almost identical programme to last year’s event.

The parade will form outside King Edwin School and will be led by the Thoresby Band. The RBL are very grateful to George Kennedy and his band colleagues who put that extra ‘polish’ to their parade. The band will be also be providing the accompaniment in St Mary’s Church for the service, which will be led again by the Reverend Richard Ford. This year organisers remain hopeful that there will be no specific social separation rules and they can once again allow a normal size congregation in church. They do ask everyone to respect those in our community who remain vulnerable and trust all those who attend will give a little more space to those who will be wearing masks in church.

A full parade order will be available very soon, but it will follow identical timings to last year and organisers would encourage all of those who wish to march with them to arrive in good time at Edwinstowe Cricket Club carpark adjacent to the school. The normal reading of the Roll of Honour, Last Post and the two-minute silence with the nation at 11.00am will be observed at the memorial garden in Edwinstowe.

They hope that as many of our residents as possible will join them for this important event in the RBL calendar. Finally, the Legion members in Edwinstowe wish to express their sincere thanks to the Forterra company who have kindly agreed to co-fund and sponsor this year’s Remembrance event.
