Edwinstowe 10k for Trussell Trust charity

by | 19 December 2017 | Community Focus, Sherwood

Hello, my name is Claire Leitheiser and I am the Principal of Dukeries Academy. On Sunday 3rd December, myself and Mrs Ferris, Assistant Principal, are planning on running the Edwinstowe 10km race. We would like to take the opportunity to raise money for a local charity, along with representing the Academy. The run starts and finishes in Edwinstowe, with a route through Sherwood Forest. If you would like to come and support (or have a laugh at our expense!) you are most welcome.

We are looking for sponsorship in the form of donations to The Trussell Trust. This is a local charity based at the Methodist Church in New Ollerton. The Trussell Trust’s 400-strong network of foodbanks provides a minimum of three days’ emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis in the UK. In 2016/17, The Trussell Trust gave 1,182,954 three-day emergency food supplies to people in crisis.

Our target is to achieve a total of 5,000 items to donate in the run up to Christmas. We hope that you are able to support us, no matter how little you can give. In order to achieve this, any donations would be welcome, from students and residents. They can be dropped at the academy or we can collect.

Students can bring in their items and take them to their tutor. The tutor group that raises the most items will win a special surprise.

I hope that we can bring a little relief to people who find Christmas a particularly difficult time. Many thanks for any support you can offer.
