The 40s Day has come and gone in Tickhill — and what a fabulous day it was too! Before 11.00am that morning, I’d had conversations with Winston Churchill, Captain Mannering and a very glamorous 40s nanny, wheeling an authentic pram — complete with a terrifyingly realistic ‘baby’.The previous week I helped produce over 150 sandbags for the shops to use in displays and the DIY shop had a run on masking tape for windows. Lots of people called into the Parish Room for coffee and homemade scones and welshcakes, c/o the Mothers Union. Sadly, the prices were not of the 40s era. Thank you to all who called in. Next year promises to be even better — so watch out for it, and get involved if you can.
The rest of June flew by with all our varied regular events and classes taking place. Tickhill Film Society closed their second (very successful) season with their first AGM, the film Bridge of Spies and the evening finished up with refreshments and wine, giving the members and guests time to socialise and chat about the group and possible future films. The society has vacancies for committee members, contact Andy if you are interested on 01302 708404 (evenings). I have joined as the newest ‘member’! We will be looking forward to a new season starting in September, I’m hoping to persuade them to show all my favourite films.
From 4th July, Doncaster Holistic Training will start Baby Massage classes for parents in Tickhill Parish Room. For further information about this class contact me on 07840 419763.
