Residents and bike enthusiasts in Dalton, Rotherham are set to get a brand-new pump track facility thanks to securing a £100,000 grant from FCC Communities Foundation. The money will be used to build the intermediate pump track at the Magna Lane Recreation Site.
Councillor Joanne Workman, Chair of Dalton Parish Council, believes the facility will make a huge difference to the health and wellbeing of young people living in the area. She said: “This project will provide a real boost to the people of Dalton Parish. It’s fantastic that FCC Communities Foundation has awarded us this money and we’re really looking forward to our pump track taking shape by the end of the year.” FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community projects through the Landfill Communities Fund.
A FCC Communities Foundation spokesperson added: “We’re pleased our funding will help provide such a fantastic facility for the people in Dalton. FCC Communities Foundation is always happy to consider grant applications for projects that make a difference to local communities and we’re really looking forward to seeing this one take shape soon.”
Work will create a beginner and intermediate pump track at Magna Lane Recreation Ground, which will provide a much-needed recreational facility for children of all ages.
There will be a safe space for riders to develop and practice their skills and it will create an inclusive environment where beginners can learn alongside more experienced riders, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie.
The pump track will also enhance the park and make it more attractive to families / carers and outdoor enthusiasts, promoting a vibrant community spirit.
