As part of the ‘Shape up for Summer’ campaign at Bodyscene Health and Leisure Club, based at Hellaby Hall Hotel in Rotherham staff and members held a charity bikeathon on 8th August from 8.00am until 8.00pm.

A total of £1,757 was raised for Macmillan and Bluebell Wood Hospice. Staff and members, including boxer Johnny Nelson, were invited to take part to ensure that two bikes were continuously in use for 12 hours. There were 48 slots of 30mins in total to complete the distance of the Tour de Yorkshire.

A Macmillan coffee morning, with cakes supplied by members, to contribute to the fundraising effort was also held alongside a raffle with prizes donated by local business to support the event.

Alex Carratt, General Manager of Bodyscene, said: “The event was a fantastic success and wished to thank the local community for their support for two very worthy local charities.”
