The first Ryton Chorale concert of the new season is at The Crossing on Saturday 19th November at 7.30pm.
It is the 40th Anniversary Concert, and Worksop-born composer Martin Ellerby has written ‘Mass of the Winged Lion’ especially for the occasion with Ben Frith and Heidi Rolfe providing the piano accompaniment.
Also in the-all English programme is Elgar’s ‘The Music Makers’, which was first performed in Birmingham in 1912 and is a setting of the poem Ode by Arthur O’Shaughnessy. Contralto Catherine Griffiths has been invited to sing the solo role.
Tickets cost £11.00 and have been selling well, but some are still available online from www.rytonchorale.org.uk, by calling 01909 476402 and from choir members.
Following the concert, rehearsals will get underway for the choir Christmas Concert in St Anne’s Church on Monday 12th December at 7.00pm.
